South African 100 Rand
The currency used in South Africa is called the “Rand”, whose symbol is an “R” and a forex denomination of “ZAR”. Foreign currency can be exchanged at local banks or foreign exchange bureaus. Most of the main credit cards, like American Express, Diners Club, Master Card and Visa, being the most accepted (particularly the last two).
Because of a favorable exchange rate in relation to the major international currencies, South Africa has become a fairly inexpensive tourist destination. It should however be remembered that during the 2010 World Cup, prices are bound to rise as so often happens during major world events.
